Piano Removal Denver Metro
That old piano has been sitting there long enough. We safely remove upright pianos, baby grands, grand pianos, organs, and keyboards — usually the same day you call. No damage to your home, no hassle, no heavy lifting on your end. Just point, and it's gone.
What We Remove
From a small keyboard to a full-size concert grand, we handle every type of piano and keyboard instrument in the Denver metro.
Upright Pianos
Standard upright and console pianos weighing 300 to 500 pounds. The most common piano removal we handle. We get them out of living rooms, basements, churches, and schools every week.
Baby Grand Pianos
Baby grands typically weigh 500 to 600 pounds and require leg removal and careful angling through doorways. Our crew knows exactly how to break them down for safe transport without scratching a thing.
Grand Pianos
Full-size grand pianos can weigh 700 to 1,200 pounds. These require specialized handling, multiple crew members, and careful planning. We bring the right team and equipment for the job.
Digital Pianos & Keyboards
Electric pianos, digital keyboards, weighted-key models, and their stands. Lighter than acoustic pianos but still bulky and awkward to move. We take the stand, bench, and pedals too.
Organs
Church organs, home organs, Hammond organs, and electronic organ consoles. These can be surprisingly heavy and complex to disconnect. We handle the full removal from start to finish.
Piano Benches & Accessories
We take the bench, the sheet music stand, the metronome — everything that came with the piano. You won't be left with a pile of accessories and nowhere to put them.
Why Piano Removal Is Different
This isn't a couch. Here's why piano removal requires professionals.
Pianos are one of the heaviest, most awkward items in any home. An upright piano weighs between 300 and 500 pounds. A baby grand? 500 to 600 pounds. A full-size grand piano can tip the scales at 1,200 pounds or more. That kind of weight is dangerous to move without the right crew, equipment, and experience.
But weight is only half the problem. Pianos are also fragile in the wrong places. The legs on a grand piano are load-bearing but not designed to handle lateral force. The casters on an upright will gouge hardwood floors in seconds if you try to roll it. And the shape — wide, tall, and top-heavy — makes pianos incredibly difficult to navigate through standard doorways, around corners, and down hallways without hitting walls, trim, or door frames.
Then there are stairs. Getting a 400-pound upright piano up from a basement or down from a second floor is genuinely dangerous without proper technique. One slip, one bad grip, and someone gets hurt or your staircase gets destroyed. We've seen homeowners try it themselves and end up with a piano wedged halfway down the stairs and a hole in the drywall.
Junk Same Day has the crew, the equipment, and the experience to remove your piano safely. We use professional moving blankets, floor runners, furniture pads, and door frame protectors on every job. We pad every surface your piano might touch on the way out. Your floors stay pristine, your walls stay intact, and the piano goes out the door without drama.
We also know how to partially disassemble pianos when needed. Grand and baby grand pianos often need their legs removed and the body tilted onto a piano board for safe transport. Our crew handles this quickly and correctly so nothing gets damaged — the piano or your home.

We Remove It Safely
Our crew arrives with moving blankets, floor runners, and all the equipment needed to get your piano out without a scratch on your home. We handle disassembly, protection, carrying, and loading. You don't lift a finger.
Dispose or Donate
If the piano is playable, we'll work to donate it to a local school, church, or community center. If it's past its prime, we disassemble it and recycle the wood, metal strings, and iron harp. As little as possible goes to the landfill.
What Happens to Your Piano
We don't just throw it in a landfill. Here's what we actually do.
Donation — If It's Still Playable
A surprising number of pianos we remove are still in decent playing condition. They just aren't wanted anymore. When that's the case, we work with local organizations to give the piano a second life. Our donation partners include:
- Denver-area public schools and after-school music programs
- Churches and community centers across the metro
- Nonprofit organizations that provide music education
- Individual families looking for a free or low-cost piano
If your piano has life left in it, we'll do our best to find it a good home rather than sending it to the dump.
Recycling — If It's Beyond Repair
Pianos that are too damaged, water-logged, or structurally compromised to be donated get broken down and recycled. A typical piano contains 150 to 300 pounds of metal in the strings, harp, and tuning pins, plus substantial amounts of hardwood. We separate the iron harp, copper and steel strings, wooden frame, felt hammers, and ivory or plastic keys. The metal goes to scrap recyclers, the wood gets repurposed or recycled, and we divert as much weight as possible from the landfill.
Either way — donated or recycled — your piano gets handled responsibly. Not just dumped on the side of the road.

What Our Customers Say
Real reviews from real piano removal jobs in the Denver metro.
"We had an old upright piano in our basement that hadn't been played in years. I called three companies and nobody wanted to deal with the narrow staircase. Junk Same Day came out the same afternoon, wrapped the piano in blankets, put runners on every step, and had it loaded in under 45 minutes. Not a single mark on the walls. Incredible crew."
"My grandmother's baby grand had been sitting in my living room since we inherited it. Beautiful instrument, but nobody in the family plays. Junk Same Day removed the legs, wrapped the whole thing, and got it out through our front door without touching the hardwood. They even found a church in Aurora that wanted it. Couldn't be happier with how they handled it."
"Texted them a photo of our old organ on a Tuesday morning. Had a price back in ten minutes. They showed up Wednesday at 9am sharp, disconnected everything, carried it out, and swept the room clean. The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes. Price was exactly what they quoted. No games, no upselling. These guys are the real deal."
