Cardboard piles up faster than any recycling cart can handle — after a move, a big delivery, a store reset, or an office cleanout. Denver’s purple cart comes only every other week and carries size rules most people don’t discover until it’s already overflowing. Junk Same Day is the shortcut: call, text a photo, or book online, and we’ll pick up your boxes today, load and all.
What we pick up
- Moving boxes — whole-house moves, apartment cleanouts, post-move box mountains, flattened or not.
- Retail & delivery boxes — store resets, seasonal overflow, appliance and furniture boxes, Amazon returns.
- Bulk & Gaylord boxes — pallet-sized Gaylords, warehouse OCC, truckloads of loose corrugated.
- Waxed & greasy boxes — produce and food boxes your curbside cart won’t take. We still will.
How same-day pickup works
- Tell us what you’ve got. Call, text a photo, or book online. A photo gets you the fastest, most accurate quote.
- Get a free, flat quote. We price by how much space it fills in the truck — you approve the number before we lift anything. No hidden fees.
- We haul it, same day. The Junk Same Day crew does all the loading and carrying. No flattening, bundling, or dragging boxes to the curb.
- It gets recycled. Clean corrugated is baled as OCC at a local facility; sturdy moving boxes are set aside for reuse or donation.
Why not just use the cart or free drop-off?
Both work — until you have real volume. Here’s what actually stops people.
Every box must be flattened and cut to no larger than 2 ft × 2 ft to fit the purple cart, collected only every other week. A garage of moving boxes can mean an hour of breaking down and cutting — and still may not fit in one cycle.
Denver’s free Cherry Creek drop-off (7400 Cherry Creek S Dr) is residents-only, capped at two visits a day, and bans commercial vehicles and trailers. If you run a business or have more than fits in a car trunk, it’s out.
Junk Same Day fills both gaps: any volume, any box, no prep, no proof of residency, no trip across town. Want every option compared? Read our guide to getting rid of a mountain of cardboard in Denver.
Commercial & bulk cardboard for businesses
Retailers, warehouses, restaurants, and offices generate more cardboard than any cart holds. Junk Same Day does one-time bulk hauls and scheduled recurring pickups — no dumpster rental, no long-term contract.
Businesses, multifamily properties (8+ units), food establishments, and events must provide recycling — including cardboard — with full compliance required by September 1, 2026. Scheduled pickups are a simple way to get compliant.
Thinking a baler pays for itself? Usually not — we ran the numbers on whether you can actually get paid for cardboard. For most businesses, letting us handle it is the lower-hassle math.
Can I recycle this?
Not all “cardboard” is equal. Here’s what belongs where in the Denver area.
| Type | Recycle? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Clean, dry corrugated | Yes | Flatten, cut to ≤2 ft, into the purple cart — or we haul any volume. |
| Paperboard / chipboard | Yes | Recyclable, but a lower grade than corrugated. Keep it dry. |
| Greasy pizza box | Partly | Recycle the clean top; trash or compost the grease-soaked part. |
| Wet or moldy | No | Moisture ruins the fibers — compost it. |
| Waxed / plastic-coated | No | The coating won’t re-pulp. Reuse or trash — we’ll take it. |

Cardboard pickup FAQs
Where can I recycle large cardboard boxes in Denver?
Three options: flatten and feed the purple cart over successive pickups; haul them to the free Cherry Creek drop-off (residents-only, no commercial vehicles); or book a same-day pickup with Junk Same Day — any amount, no flattening, and we recycle the corrugated for you.
Do I need to break down or flatten boxes for you?
No. Denver’s cart requires boxes flattened and cut to 2 ft, but when we pick up you don’t prep anything. Leave them whole, stacked, or in a pile — the crew handles all of it.
Can you recycle wet or waxed cardboard?
Curbside, no — wet cardboard contaminates the batch and waxed coating won’t re-pulp. But we’ll take either off your hands and route it correctly.
How much does cardboard pickup cost?
Pricing is based on how much space the cardboard fills in the truck, so it scales with the job. We give you a free, flat quote up front — after a quick look or a texted photo — and you approve the price before we start.
Do you offer recurring pickup for businesses?
Yes — one-time bulk hauls and scheduled recurring pickups for retailers, warehouses, restaurants, and offices, with no dumpster rental and no long-term contract. It’s also a straightforward way to meet Denver’s Waste No More requirement.
