What Affects How Long It Takes
1. Volume and Number of Items
This is the biggest factor. A single couch takes 15 minutes. A garage packed to the rafters takes 2 hours. More stuff = more time.
2. Access and Stairs
Items on the ground floor near the front door are fast. Items in a basement, upstairs bedroom, or tight backyard take longer:
- Ground floor, clear path: Fastest — walk in, carry out
- Upstairs (1-2 flights): Adds 5-10 minutes per heavy item
- Basement stairs: Adds 10-15 minutes per heavy item (especially narrow Denver basement stairs)
- Elevator buildings: Elevator wait times can add 15-30 minutes total
- Backyard / side gate: Adds 5-10 minutes for the longer carry distance
3. Weight of Items
Light items (bags of clothes, small furniture) move fast. Heavy items (pianos, safes, concrete, cast iron tubs) require more crew effort and careful navigation.
4. Disassembly Required
Some items need partial disassembly to fit through doorways:
- Bed frames: 5-10 minutes to disassemble

On-Site
- Walk-through (2-5 minutes): We look at what’s going, confirm the price, and get your approval before we touch anything
- Loading (15 min – 2+ hours): Depends on the job size (see table above)
- Cleanup (5 minutes): We sweep the area where items were removed
- Payment (2 minutes): Cash, card, Venmo, or Zelle

- Decide before we arrive — Know exactly what’s going vs. staying. Mid-job sorting decisions add time.
- Unlock gates and doors — Side gates, basement doors, garage doors open before we arrive
- Consolidate small items — Put loose items in bags or boxes. Loading 50 individual items takes longer than loading 10 bags.
Do I Need to Be Home?
For outdoor items (porch furniture, yard waste, items in an open garage), you don’t need to be home — just tell us where everything is and provide payment details in advance.
For indoor items, someone needs to let us in and walk us through what goes. You don’t need to help — just point and we handle the rest.
