Tips for Scheduling Your Pickup

What to know before you call WM At Your Door.

1
Schedule first. Call (800) 449-7587 (Mon–Fri 7a–7p CST) or visit wmatyourdoor.com to set up a pickup. Inside Denver you can also dial 311. The program isn’t walk-in — you can’t show up at a facility with materials.
2
Keep items in original containers. Staff need to identify what each item is. If the original label is missing, write the contents on the container with a marker.
3
Don’t mix chemicals. Never combine different chemicals into one container. This can create dangerous reactions and the WM crew won’t accept mixed materials.
4
Use the mail-in kit. WM sends a heavy-duty plastic bag, labels, and a zip tie. Follow the included instructions to seal your hazardous items safely.
5
Set the bag out on collection day. Place it by your front door (not at the curb) on the morning of your scheduled pickup.

What About Everything Else?

So you’ve scheduled the paint and chemicals for At Your Door pickup. But what about the old furniture, broken appliances, and pile of junk in the garage?

WM’s program doesn’t pick up any of that. And Denver’s bulky item pickup has long wait times and strict limits.

That’s where Junk Same Day comes in.

We pick up everything WM’s program won’t — furniture, appliances, electronics, construction debris, yard waste, tires, and general junk. Same day. Upfront pricing. We do the heavy lifting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about hazardous waste disposal in Denver.

Denver doesn’t operate a walk-in drop-off facility. The city contracts WM’s At Your Door program: call (800) 449-7587 or visit wmatyourdoor.com to schedule a pickup. WM mails a collection kit and picks the materials up from your front door for a $15 co-pay.
No. Denver’s At Your Door program has a $15 co-pay per collection. Individual items often have free drop-off options though: leftover paint at PaintCare partners (Sherwin-Williams and many Ace Hardware stores), and most batteries at Home Depot, Best Buy, or Batteries Plus.
Latex paint can go in the regular trash only if it’s fully dried and hardened. You can speed this up by adding cat litter or sand and leaving the lid off. Oil-based paint is hazardous waste — dispose of it through WM’s At Your Door program or drop it off free at a PaintCare partner location. Never put it in the trash or pour it down the drain.
Most batteries can be dropped off free at Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowe’s, and Batteries Plus. Car batteries are accepted at AutoZone and O’Reilly. For larger quantities or mixed types, schedule a pickup through WM’s At Your Door program at (800) 449-7587. Never throw lithium batteries in the regular trash — they can cause fires.
We can’t pick up hazardous materials like paint, chemicals, pesticides, or motor oil — those go through WM’s At Your Door program. But we do pick up everything else people want gone at the same time: old furniture, appliances, electronics, tires, construction debris, and general junk. Book a pickup here.
WM’s At Your Door program won’t accept explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, medical or pharmaceutical waste, commercial quantities, tires, or electronics. Tires and electronics need separate disposal — Junk Same Day handles both. Call us at (303) 324-6014.
